Leslie wants to sell The Pines, a Victorian Gothic three-storey house.

Roland wants to buy The Pines for Elizabeth,

Elizabeth wants to leave Roland.

Tristram wants to complete the sale but can't even complete a sentence.

Mark has a dream - setting up a fishing shop with Kitty.

Kitty has a nightmare - setting up a fishing shop with Mark.

Alan Ayckbourn's theatrical device is to set all three floors

on one stage level creating an upstairs/downstairs farce!
